School supplies for PSD students are being delivered this week to our schools, marking a significant stride towards fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.
Each student will receive a curated kit of supplies, tailored to their grade level's needs. 📝 ✏️ 🖍️
PSD is looking for volunteers to join our Special Education Parent Advisory Committee to help provide an inclusive learning space and support for all of PSD's students.
The focus of SEPAC is;
•To develop a Special Education Family Education series, scheduled throughout the school year;
•To develop opportunities for relationship building between Special Education families, PSD staff, and community partners; and
•To promote inclusion through equal opportunities and access to quality education for ALL students, regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or differences.

As we gear up for another exciting school year, we want to remind you about an important opportunity that goes beyond just meals. Now is the time to apply for the Free/Reduced Meals Application for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This program offers a wide range of benefits that extend far beyond the cafeteria.

- Tuesday, August 29 - Swift Water office opens back up from 9:00 - 3:00 PM
- Wednesday, August 30 - Meet the Teacher - students with last names A-M arrive at 4:30 - 5:00 pm and students with the last names N - Z arrive from 5:00 - 5:30 pm
- Tuesday, September 5 - Grades 1 - 5 - First Day of School - 9:00 AM start
- Wednesday, September 6 - Late Start Wednesday - 10:00 AM start
- Friday, September 8 - Kindgergarten - First Day of School - 9:00 AM start
- Wednesday, September 13 - Late Start Wednesday - 10:00 AM start
PSD leaders interviewed some talented candidates and are happy to announce four candidates have been chosen as the new deputy principals, beginning in the 2023-2024 school year.
Danielle Fischer has been chosen as the new Deputy Principal for Harbor Heights Elementary. Kim Kinney has been chosen as the new Deputy Principal for Pioneer Elementary. Niccole Griffin has been chosen as the new Deputy Principal for Swift Water Elementary. Kelli Demonte has been chosen as the new Deputy Principal for Voyager Elementary.
As outlined in our five year strategic plan, the Peninsula School District has committed to creating equitable and inclusive learning environments for every child in our schools. To help us reach this goal, PSD will provide all basic educational school supplies to our K-12 students at no cost to families during the 2023-2024 school year. The Peninsula School District is proud to announce three of its elementary schools have been named 2023 Green Leader Schools by the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Swift Water Elementary, Voyager Elementary, and Evergreen Elementary were awarded the honor for each school's work towards creating an environmentally focused school.
Mark your calendars for Swift Water's first annual STEM Night on Thursday, April 6 from 5:00 - 7:00. Please join us in discovering the fun of Science, technology, Engineering and Math! Engage in Hands on activities and view student projects. Swift Water's VPO will be hosting a silent auction in the community room.

Sue from the Lions Club stopped by Swift Water today to do a dictionary presentation and give each one of our 3rd grade students a dictionary of their own. Thank you Lions Club and Sue for your continued support!
Celebrate Education Support Professionals Recognition Week
This week, PSD is celebrating our Education Support Professionals. These incredible people work across the district in schools and departments to support the day-to-day functions and provide necessary support for our educators.
Education Support Professionals include our wonderful paraeducators, human resources, payroll, capital projects, purchasing, and business services staff.

Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year is now open! Enroll your student at one of Peninsula School Districts excellent elementary schools today!
Kindergarten is offered in-person, five days a week starting September 8.
In order to enroll your child for kindergarten, they must be 5 years old by August 31, 2023. Register early to learn about summertime school events and to receive initial kindergarten information.

During the week of Feb. 6 - 10, the Peninsula School District is recognizing the impactful work of our school counselors, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and physical therapists. Each school day these professionals care for our students’ mental, physical, and emotional health. Their amazing work helps students at every stage in their school career find their own success and achieve their goals.

On Monday, Jan. 30, Swift Water third grade students constructed paper house models and were given two pieces of scotch tape, two paper clips, scrap paper, and a couple of toothpicks to try and construct a house that would not blow away during a major windstorm, simulated by a box fan.
